At GAIN: Guiding Access to Intelligence Now, we are a non-governmental organization passionately dedicated to empowering youth with the knowledge and skills to effectively leverage Generative AI. Our mission is to bridge the gap between young minds and the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence, ensuring they are not just users, but informed, ethical, and creative contributors.
We believe that understanding and responsibly using GenAI is crucial for the future success and agency of young people in an increasingly AI-driven society.
Our Vision
Our vision is a future where every young person has equitable access to AI education and feels confident and capable in navigating the complexities and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence. We envision a generation of youth who can harness GenAI tools responsibly, ethically, and creatively to solve problems, innovate, and shape a better world.
The Need for AI Literacy
The rapid advancement of AI, particularly Generative AI, presents both immense potential and significant challenges. Without proper guidance, young people may miss out on opportunities or face risks associated with misinformation, bias, and ethical dilemmas. GAIN addresses the critical need for accessible, age-appropriate AI literacy programs that equip youth with the understanding and critical thinking skills necessary to thrive in this new landscape.
Our Story
The Story of GAIN – Guiding Access to Intelligence Now
In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, two young visionaries, Adelin-George Voicu and Iulian Lucău, saw a growing gap — a gap between AI’s transformative potential and the way it was often misunderstood, misused, or feared. Rather than reaching its maximum potential to improve lives, AI was either underutilized or viewed with suspicion.
Fueled by a profound desire to change this, Adelin and Iulian co-founded GAIN – Guiding Access to Intelligence Now, a nonprofit organization committed to making AI knowledge, tools, and practices accessible, ethical, and empowering for everyone.
Their Backgrounds: A Story of Preparation
Adelin-George Voicu, a passionate electronics engineering student at the University of Southern Denmark, built his expertise through hands-on experience with AI agent development at companies like Danfoss Drives. His work specialized in operationalizing complex AI systems for real-world applications. Alongside his technical growth, Adelin engaged in leadership roles, working as a Student Ambassador and actively contributing to youth organizations such as Silba and LSRS Denmark.
Iulian Lucău brought a complementary perspective — coming from a background rooted in policymaking, strategy, and civic engagement. His experience interning at the Permanent Representation of Romania to the EU, and leadership roles within Silba Sønderborg and LSRS Denmark, shaped his deep understanding of policy, governance, and community development.
Together, they represented two powerful sides of the same vision: technological excellence and societal impact.
The Sønderborg Roots: Where the Dream Began
The seeds of GAIN were planted in Sønderborg, a vibrant city in Southern Denmark where both Adelin and Iulian had been actively involved in shaping the local youth culture. Working with the municipality on the Youth Culture Plan for 2025–2026, they saw firsthand the potential of young people when given the right tools and support.
In their community work, they realized something important: while the next generation was rich in creativity, drive, and ambition, they often lacked proper guidance on using modern technologies like AI to achieve their goals. The bridge between technology and people was missing.
This realization became the heartbeat of GAIN.
GAIN was not just about teaching artificial intelligence; it was about guiding access to it — helping individuals unlock AI’s real power responsibly, ethically, and creatively, rather than misusing it or being intimidated by it.
The Birth of GAIN
Their combined experiences and shared vision culminated in founding GAIN. Its pillars were clear:
Education: Delivering workshops, training, and resources to demystify AI for ordinary people.
Accessibility: Ensuring that AI is not the privilege of tech experts alone, but a tool everyone can harness.
Ethical Innovation: Promoting AI development that respects human dignity, democracy, and sustainability.
Adelin provided the technical depth — showing how AI can be practically built and used — while Iulian championed the human and societal dimensions, ensuring that technology always served people, not the other way around.
Looking Forward
Today, GAIN continues to expand its footprint, driven by the core belief that true intelligence lies not only in machines but in how we, as people, choose to shape and guide them.
What began in Sønderborg — with two young changemakers seeing potential where others saw problems — is now evolving into a movement to empower communities, inspire innovation, and reshape the future with wisdom, creativity, and heart.
As Adelin often says, “We don’t want people to just use AI. We want them to understand it, challenge it, and improve it.”
And as Iulian reminds every audience, “The greatest power AI can give us is the power to be better humans.”
